The Solarte Ecological Reserve is a 150-acre
preserve and agro-forestry project located on the Island of Solarte,
15 minutes by boat from the main Island of Colon, in the Archipelago
of Bocas del Toro, Panama. The Institute is in the process of preparing
a new management plan for the reserve, as well as plans for one additional
area located on the main land. Currently, the reserve provides two-full
time jobs to local residents. The project on the main land provided two
full-time jobs to local residents through 2002. Starting 2004 it provided work for 4 local residents.
